Final Reflection

My goals was to gain speaking skills, and to learn new vocabulary words that I don't know each day. I kind of achieve those skills because my mentor Fela she always asking me questions, and I have to  answer them. Usually I answer I don't know, and Fela say that's not an answer, Fela say she ask questions so it can improve my speaking skills when I get out of the internship, so I can be confident with my speaking skills when I am working at a different job, especially If I'm trying to improve my English. Three piece of advices that I would give to new interns at that site are be nice, be on time, and do your work. When I mean by being nice If you have high temper control them, I know it could be difficult, but you have to do it. What I learned in the professional world are not to be shy, be confident. The most important ideas  that I've learn during the last 12 weeks is how to be a good role model for teenagers like me.

Thank You Letter

Dear Ms. Fela

I would like to tell you thank you for telling me about Domestic Violence, Girls empowerment because it make me think about other girls problems. Girls that does not know anything about being in a relationship for ex: when they have a boyfriend, and they treat them badly and they still think that the boys like them. Also teach me how to protect themselves against bad diseases that are outside. Also to focus on their education, to finish their school.

In my internship I meet a lot of nice people like Ms. Keshena, Rose, Elsie, Fela, Alex, Margarette, Jubert, Patrice. They are very nice with me, if I don’t know something they are able to help me, with what I don’t know. At first I taught they would be mean with me, but they weren’t. They like having a younger person to help them out.

After my internship Dwa Fanm, especially my mentor she  make me a stronger teenager because she give me advice how to live later in life. How to protect myself and help other young teenage girls, by giving them advice. Becoming a great role model to them.

Thank you Ms. Fela and other Co-Workers at Dwa Fanm for talking to me about the Violence outside and how to overcome them. Also how to fax papers, talking in good manners to other organizations. Later in life I will  use those skills to help me everywhere that I go.

Sincerely,  Farah

Midpoint Reflection

My internship is  Dwa Fanm is not the same as the first time I taught. I taught I will see women to come to the office everyday to ask for help. The goals that I want to gained when I finish my internship is to speak English more sophisticatedly. The challenges that I had in my internship was to come up with an article about for teen girls to put in myspace because my Internship site has their own profile in myspace where they publish articles that are interested for the girls, to make those girls interested in that story and becoming our  friends with my internship site in myspace, I didn't know what to do because I never have to do that kind of stuff. To overcome those challenges was to work with my partner Anne, so we can come up with and idea ,and after that added to myspace. Using the fax machine is something that I learned how to use in my internship so I could sent mail to people, it could be about anything. I learn how to go to different places  like John Jay High School  and Wall Whichman.Working with professionals in my internship make me feel that I'm actually working in a actual job, you change because you don't talk to them as they were my friends. The altered schedule has affected me a lot because I have to finish my work in my home not in school because I don't have that much time to do it. Also I don't finish my work on time, to make sure that all my work are done before I go to my internship I do my homework to get rid of some and when I go home I finish the rest.

Artifacts

This is a Desktop computer that I used to type other Organizations informations like their email, phone number, their names and address were Dwa Fanm could get in touch with them to share their ideas with them. I search in google in that computer to look for free clothes to give to women and kids who can't afford clothes or toys.

This is Called Fax I used it to send brochures, or information about (Dwa Fanm)my organization, flyers to other Organizations to tell them would they like to participate and make a donations to help people in Haiti who where affected in the earthquake. To use that machine you have to put the letters on top of it ,and put 9 and dial the fax number for the place that you want to sent it to after  it call it like a phone and after you press black and it send it to the Organizations that you sent it and it says ok when it finish fax that's when you know it's done.

This is a Office Printer that I used to print papers because when I'm organizing papers put them in orders for(Dwa Fanm) I have to use it because It print papers faster than a regular printer, but I use a code to print papers otherwise I can't. It's very easy to use this printer, it's not complicated. I found all of those artifacts in my Internship site, when my mentor tell me to use it to do something for her.
I choose this artifact because it shows what kind of of equipment that I used to get my work done very simple and faster. It represent that my internship does not only used their hands to work, but also electronics to open their mind on things that are useful that they can use.

First Impressions

My mentor first and last name is Fela Pierre Louis, she's like supervisor. She's nice. The environment that work on is quiet, and full of nice people that like to help. My first thoughts when I first started my internship is what will they people think of me, are they going to yell at me, are they going to be mean with me. Make me do things that I can't do. The tree jobs that I started doing in my internship are typing, translating, organizing papers (putting them in the right orders). Well everyday we have different jobs, so I don't know I could I be specific with you. The most challenging part of my internship is translating a bunch of papers in Haitian Creole, it's not that easy to do because some words have different meaning. I learned how working in a Office is helpful.

1.How come I don't see woman who have been violated coming to Dwa fanm?

2. Does this organization exist in other cities besides New York? If so, Which Cities?

3. What is the primary goal of the organization?

When I ask Ms.Fela about the Primary goal of Dwa Fanm, she explained to me that the main goal are to help and supporting Women, Teens, Adults whose from any country with violation of Human Rights(Violence). Also my mentor (Fela) said  that Organization Dwa Fanm( Rights For Woman) does not exist in other cities, because they are the only Dwa Fanm that she knows that's all she could think of.
